8:00 pm : Darren Johnson
Solo show. 8pm, no cover.
For the last ten years, Darren has been a fixture on the Canadian blues and roots scene - working with the likes of Amos Garrett, Tim Williams, Jim Byrnes, John Lee Saunders, and The Blind Boys of Alabama to name a few. His music has been described as "somewhere in between Tom Waits and Leon Redbone, Howlin' Wolf and Willie Nelson". His songwriting is simple, yet deals with everyday situations for everyday people. His sound is a throwback to yesteryear, one may find themselves deceived by the contrast between what they are hearing verses what they are seeing... Hailing from Okotoks Alberta, Darren spends most of his time touring the western provinces of Canada as either a solo or duo act. Eastern Canada has received only a limited taste of Darren's music - tours in 2004, 2006 and 2008 garnered favorable responses. European audiences were introduced via a "mini" tour in 2003. Four albums later, Darren’s music has reached throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan, China, and Australia through CD sales.

Baltimore, Maryland, USA. While still a young teenager, Jones played guitar in various blues bands in his home state. A little while later he spent some time living in Europe, developing his skills and building an admiring audience. In the mid-80s he relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he greatly expanded his audience, offering a potent mix of classic urban blues songs alongside his own compositions, which maintain the mood although dressed in powerful rock-influenced concepts. He played with guitarist Zac Harmon’s band and others before forming his own group in the mid-90s. This blending of musical genres is reflected in the name of his company, Blue Rock Records, for which he began recording in the early 00s. Included in his band for his second album, 2005’s Passion For The Blues, were Kenny ‘Boudro’ Gray (bass) and Michael Turner (drums), while among the guests were Jimmy ‘Z’ Zavala (blues harp/saxophone), Marshall Thompson (keyboards) and Harmon.

A Boogie Patrol 1-nighter! 8:30pm start, no cover! Come on down for this amazing show... plus it's Ladies Night!
"I 'm not sure which is more impressive -- the way Boogie Patrol can captivate a crowd with their soulful vocals, electrifying musicianship, phenomenal energy, and stellar showmanship; or the fact that they manage to pull it all off while being an all-original, stylistically unique group that 's all about blazing their own path. Either way, they're as impressive a young blues-based act as I've ever seen. " Grant Stovel - CKUA Radio

9:00 pm : Poppa Dawg
Seating starts at 7:30pm. Shows start at 9pm. $15. Please call 403-262-2666 to make your reservations, or email us your phone number & we will call you. General Seating, but for Reserved Parties of 6 or more we have your tables ready for you. The Blues Can... Calgary's premier Live Blues Music room & always a great value!!! YOU keep coming so WE can keep 'em coming! Thank You Blues-Canners... WE <3 YOU! Thank you for supporting Calgary's Live Music scene!!!
\"Poppa Dawg is one of those ‘one-man-army’ crusaders that Blues (and all indie music) depends on so dearly. The concept of devoting one’s life to music with the Joy Factor being the no. 1 goal is something that the ‘greed-driven’ just can’t grasp. There’s always hope for music and mankind when there are crusaders like Rick in abundance and in some places (outside of North America) people who devote their lives to making and promoting blues are revered and respected. Besides leading his own band and making his own Blues, Poppa Dawg is ‘The Man’ when it comes to Interior, British Columbia. He keeps everything going, connecting clubs with artists, helping touring bands get gigs in Kelowna or Nelson, encourages venues to at least try live music and runs a website/e-mail newsletter that keeps us all informed. So, even outside of a recording context he is invaluable and irreplaceable. Dawg has an easy-on-the-ears, natural blues voice and his guitar work betrays decades of influences from Johnny Watson to Elvin Bishop. Tasty and tasteful. But, it’s his song writing that really surprises. Great lyrics and humorous poetry abound set to catchy riffs designed for the sacroiliac. Several tracks are very memorable and worthy of ‘borrowing’, so let’s hope Dawg gets these to some ‘stars’ for exposure and royalties.\" Andy \'Blues Boy\' Grigg
12:00 pm : Tim Williams
Solo Show. Noon-2pm.
Tim has shared stages with a large roster of well known blues and roots music artists, and the following list is by no means complete: Taj Mahal, Big Jack Johnson, Rory Block, Roy Rogers, The Earl Scruggs Revue, John Fahey, Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Dr. John, The Holmes Brothers, David Lindley, Ramblin\' Jack Elliott, Mary Flower, Paul Geremia, John Hammond, Martin Simpson, Guy Davis, Eric Bibb, Odetta, B.B. King, Robert Lockwood Jr., Honeyboy Edwards, Junior Wells and Buddy Guy. Tim's live solo shows (he also works with his band, the Electro-Fires) are a trip down the river of North American music...blues, ragtime, old-time country with dashes of Mexican and Hawaiian influence, performed on a variety of string instruments.
5:00 pm : Shaye & Sydney Zadravec and Tim Leacock
Happy Hour 5-7pm.
