Name:Ethan Shorty Askey
Description:A singer and musician who is best known for his blues harp playing, Shorty is also no stranger to funk, soul, reggae, roots and old school country music genres. Over decades and from Chicago to the Mackenzie River Delta he has honed his craft as sideman and session player. His studio work can be heard on recordings alongside Canadian luminaries Luke Doucet, Tim Williams, Mike Clark, and others. Live performance highlights have included a recent festival show with Ridley Bent, opening with Bill Dowey for John Mayall & his Blues Breakers, and guesting with Amos Garrett’s Eh Team, Michael Coleman Band and J.W. Williams Band (both of Chicago). Recognized in 2014 by the Calgary Blues Music Association as Blues Harmonica Player of the Year, Shorty regularly appears at the Blues Can with Darren Johnson (duo) and more recently as frontman to the 4 piece MOJO.
